Timika, Central
Papua – In order to improve the quality of human resources in Central Papua
Province, particularly in the areas of literacy and language skills, the
Mutiara Hitam Papua Foundation, in collaboration with the Central Papua
Provincial Education Office, is conducting English language training for
elementary and junior high school students who are native Papuans. The program
began today, Thursday, November 20, 2025, in Timika Regency, and is expected to
make a significant contribution to the future of Papua's young generation.
The training is specifically designed to provide elementary and junior high school students with the opportunity to master English, a skill that is highly sought after in today's globalized world. The program aims not only to improve English language skills, but also to prepare the young generation of Papua to compete at the national and international levels. By mastering an international language, it is hoped that they will be able to broaden their horizons, increase their educational opportunities, and achieve success in their future careers.

As Program
Coordinator, Mrs. Rode Kafiar, S.Pd., M.KP., emphasized that this activity has
clear and important objectives. The program is prioritized for indigenous
Papuan children registered in Dapodik, giving them the opportunity to develop
in a more inclusive and quality educational environment. “This is a tremendous
opportunity for Papuan children to open the door to a brighter future. By
mastering English, they will be equipped to compete in an increasingly advanced
world,” said Mrs. Rode.
This training activity will be held for 3 weeks and will be attended by students from various schools in Timika Regency, including SD Negeri Pomako, SD YPPK Muare, SD YPK Ebenhaezer, SMP YPK Ebenhaezer, SMP Negeri Pomako, and SMP YPPGI AB Tinal. This activity not only provides language training, but also brings Papuan children closer to broader opportunities in education and future careers.

Through this
training, it is hoped that native Papuan children can develop their potential
to the fullest. This program is not only about learning a language, but also
about giving them hope and opportunities to advance. Every child given the
opportunity to learn is an investment in the future, both for themselves and
for the progress of this region as a whole. The Papua Black Pearl Foundation
and the Central Papua Provincial Education Office hope that this activity can
be the beginning of positive change in the world of education in Papua, as well
as part of a long journey towards a brighter future for the young generation of
Papua.
